I started with the "Shield,
Spark plug, Lower" (pos 1) as these could be machined while
I fix/replace the tooling for pos 2 and 3 and wait for the bakelite
parts (pos 5). After machining there is a ring inserted and the
4 small tabs are bent to hold it in place. The 4 big tabs are
bent in the correct shape with a specil tool I developed. Then
the parts are put into a vibrating machine for 24 hours to remove
all machining marks and sharp edges, and then finally they are
glassbeaded.
By the way these parts are stainless steel and fit
reglar sparkplugs with a 21 mm hex. The originals were cadmium
plated steel and have all rusted away over the years. |
