October 2023,
Last week we widened the front of the rer fender and
added some temporary mounting tabs. We also determined how much
distance was needed between fender and tire. We trimmed the
rear of the fender and started experimenting with the shape
of the sides using some Cardboard Aided Design

The plan is to weld roundbar along the edges and a half roundbar
down the middle of the fender to match the tank.
Before starting with that Aad planished the patched area wher
the chain cutout used to be, as it would be much more difficult
to metalfinish after welding in the roundbar. We also decided
to lock in the position of the fender first, so we made some stepped
mounting bolts with rounded heads for the rear mounts, and fabricated
a front mount for under the seat. |
The fender is now fully mounted
in its final position, next we will determine the final shape
of the sides and start adding roundbar. The fender is made of
quite thick sheetmetal (2 mm) and with the roundbar added will
be strong enough to not need further support |
